Elizabeth's background includes Bachelors and Masters degrees in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University in her hometown of Richmond. She has taught elementary school and adult education courses on architecture in Rochester, Minnesota, then worked as a fine arts museum registrar at the Flint Institute of Arts in Michigan.

After the birth of her son she became an "at-home mom" and began penning book-length fiction. She joined Romance Writers of America and the local chapter, Washington Romance Writers (WRW). She has organized two seminars on romance for The Smithsonian Associates. She was President of Washington Romance Writers from 2001-2002 and wrote monthly articles for the chapter's newsletter, Update.

Elizabeth lives in Falls Church with her husband, Dan, and her son, Owen, and Australian Cattle Dog, Sheila. In her spare time she enjoys antiquing, crafting, and travelling.
